Audition Information

The story of a guy who gave up on love and music, and the girl who inspired him to dream again.

On the streets of Dublin, an Irish musician and a Czech immigrant are drawn together by their shared love of music. Over the course of one fateful week, an unexpected friendship and collaboration quickly evolves into a powerful but complicated love story, underscored by emotionally charged music.
Featuring all of the magical songs from the critically acclaimed film, including the Oscar-winning “Falling Slowly,” this achingly beautiful, joyously uplifting show strikes an unforgettable chord in audiences and speaks to the power of music to connect us all. Rehearsals start September 9, 2024 and will run Mon-Thurs from 6-10pm

CAST MEMBERS MUST PLAY AN INSTRUMENT. THERE MAY BE ROOM FOR MUSICIANS WHO ARE NOT ACTORS. THAT WILL BE DETERMINED BASED ON AUDITIONS. ALL ROLES ARE FOR AGES 18+ ONLY. YOU MUST BE AT LEAST 18 YEARS OLD BY THE TIME REHEARSALS START.

Audition Requirements

Guy – Prepare to play and sing the entire song ‘Say it To Me Now’ from the show. In addition, prepare a 32 bar cut of a song of your choice in the style of the show. Must be on the guitar.

Girl – Prepare to play and sing the entire song ‘The Hill’ from the show. In addition, prepare a 32 bar cut of a song of your choice in the style of the show.

All other roles. Prepare two 16 bar song cuts of a rock/folk song in the style of the show. Prepare to accompany yourself on your main instrument if piano or guitar. If those are not your main instrument, please prepare an additional 16 bar cut on your instruments showing your abilities.

All roles will cold read from the script and will need to prepare to read in both Irish and Czech accents.

Character Breakdown

The following character breakdown is provided by MTI and the authors. The role of Girl must be able to play the piano and the role of Guy must be able to play the guitar. All other roles can play a variety of instruments and are not specific. Please use these descriptions as generalities and not necessarily hard cutoffs for age or vocal ranges or any specified instruments (other than Guy & Girl) as music can be adjusted. A determined and witty dreamer. Girl has come from the Czech Republic to Dublin for a new life. She is passionate about playing the piano and making music. MUST PLAY PIANO.
